At CDC, our ability to empower communities and drive change is fueled by the generosity of our supporters and the resilience of our fundraising efforts. We believe in transparency and accountability, and thus, we are committed to sharing insights into how we gather our funds and the diverse methods we employ to sustain our initiatives.
Foremost among our fundraising initiatives is Pehchan Pakistan, an inclusive contest open to students nationwide. The contest serves not only as a platform for showcasing talent but also as a significant source of funding for our projects. Through participation fees from students, we gather vital resources that enable us to support schools and various community-driven initiatives. However, our commitment extends beyond our immediate scope; during times of national crisis, such as the devastating floods that afflicted Pakistan, we swiftly redirected our funds to support relief efforts, demonstrating our adaptability and dedication to serving the nation in times of need.
In addition to Pehchan Pakistan, we engage in a variety of fundraising activities to supplement our financial resources. These include selling books, hosting stalls at events, organizing govt and private corporate training services, and selling souvenirs. Each of these endeavours not only raises funds but also fosters community engagement and awareness about our mission.
However, the COVID-19 pandemic presented unprecedented challenges to our fundraising efforts. As social gatherings dwindled and economic uncertainties rose, our traditional avenues for fundraising were severely impacted. Despite these obstacles, the spirit of Pehchan Pakistan remains unwavering. While we may face a temporary setback, our resolve to serve remains resolute.
In times of crisis, the support of our community becomes even more invaluable. We are immensely grateful for the unwavering support of our CDC friends who continue to contribute, standing by us through thick and thin. Their generosity serves as a beacon of hope, inspiring us to persevere in our mission of creating a brighter future for Pakistan.
As we navigate the challenges of the present, we remain steadfast in our commitment to driving positive change. With innovation, resilience, and the unwavering support of our community, we are confident in our ability to overcome adversity and continue making a meaningful impact in the lives of those we serve.
A fundamental principle guiding our actions at Pehchan Pakistan is the unwavering commitment to uphold the dignity and privacy of the individuals we serve, particularly our school children. Even before arriving at this decision, we diligently obtained written consent from parents, allowing us to publish photos of their children on our social media platforms.
However, despite this consent, we made a significant decision to refrain from posting photographs of our students. This decision was not born out of oversight, but rather a deeply held belief that using the faces of these children as mere bait for donations is ethically questionable. We refuse to compromise their dignity for the sake of financial gain.
Our students, blissfully unaware of the source of their education and resources, exude confidence because their sense of self-worth is not tethered to financial support. While this decision may have impacted our fundraising efforts, we stand firm in our resolve to prioritize the integrity and self-respect of our children above all else. Thus, all photographs shared on our social media platforms are from the pre-COVID-19 era, ensuring that their privacy remains intact while still showcasing the essence of our work and impact.
